IoT-Based Smart Garbage Bin Monitoring System

This project develops an Internet of Things-based technology to monitor garbage bin capacity levels in real-time, hence increasing waste management efficiency. An ultrasonic sensor (HC-SR04) is used by the system to assess garbage levels and categorize bins as "full" or "empty." Data from the sensors is processed by an ESP8266 microcontroller and wirelessly sent to a Firebase Realtime Database using Wi-Fi. Waste management teams can minimize overflow, optimize collection schedules, and cut operational expenses by using the data, which is available through a web or mobile application. By minimizing needless collection trips, enabling prompt garbage disposal, and encouraging cleaner surroundings, this system improves urban sanitation. The project is a workable and effective solution for contemporary smart city waste management systems because it is scalable and multi-bin compatible.
