The objective of this project is to demonstrate the operation of a gear train and mechanical power transfer by designing and building a hand-cranked planetary gearbox system. The system is enclosed in a small shell and includes a solar gear, planetary gears, and a ring gear. The gearbox produces rotational motion with variable torque and speed ratios, while the hand crank provides input from the operator. With performance assessed under various load scenarios, the project investigates the concepts of gear reduction and mechanical efficiency. For practical demonstrations, a 3D-printed model is built, showcasing the benefits of planetary gear systems in terms of their high torque transmission, compact design, and dependability.
